The Lands Division, Alberta Sustainable Resource Development is the "one-window" contact for the approvals of activities on public land, authorized pursuant to the Public Lands Act, under the Coal Exploration Program (CEP) and the Oil Sands Exploration Program (OSE). Coal and oil sands exploration activities are also regulated under the "Code of Practice for Exploration Operations," pursuant to the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act. The Code of Practice applies to both public and private land. The Code outlines the environmental requirements for conducting and reclaiming the exploration activities, information requirements of the applications and includes a registration form. Copies of the Code of Practice are available through the Queen's Printer web site.
