Director of Surveys
The Surveys Act is administered by the Minister of Alberta Sustainable Resource Development through the Director of Surveys. The Director of Surveys is an Alberta Land Surveyor, employed by the Alberta Government, designated by the Minister. Under the Surveys Act the Director of Surveys is responsible for the coordination of the establishment, maintenance and preservation of the provincial land survey system; and the provision of the provincial spatial referencing system.
The Director of Surveys is located within the Surveys and Technical Services Section, Dispositions and Technical Services Branch, Lands Division, Alberta Sustainable Resource Development. Administration of the Surveys Act is accomplished through the Land Surveys and Geodetic Control programs.
