Softwood Lumber Agreement
The Canada-U.S. Softwood Lumber Agreement (SLA 2006) came into force October 12, 2006. The SLA 2006 imposes export measures on Canadian softwood lumber exports to the U.S. As an Option A Region under the SLA 2006, Alberta’s exports are subject to export tax rates which depend upon the prevailing monthly price of lumber. The Agreement also provides for a retroactive penalty if exports during a given month exceed Alberta’s regional share.- 2006 Canada-U.S. Softwood Lumber Agreement - Consolidated
