Forest Health
Last Review/Updated: February 5, 2008
The Sustainable Resource Development (SRD) forest health program monitors and manages the biological, physiological, and environmental factors that may have an adverse effect on the health of the forest. These factors can include insects; nematodes; microorganisms (viruses, bacteria, fungi); parasitic plants; mammals; birds; noxious and restricted weeds; and non-infectious disorders caused by climate, soil, applied chemicals, air pollutants and other physiographic conditions.
SRD is committed to sustaining the health of our forests, and does so through detection, survey and monitoring, assessment of risk, and the implementation of various management programs in forest stands.
