Welcome

Nestled in the heart of Alberta’s foothills forest at the base of the Canadian Rockies lies Alberta's Hinton Training Centre.

From the moment you arrive at the Hinton Training Centre it's clear this is not your average training facility. Towering spruce, marshland and winding pathways greet newcomers to naturally beautiful grounds where the training centre overlooks the town of Hinton and Athabasca River valley.

A leader in the delivery of forest-related education, research and technology, students from around the globe visit the centre to learn more about managing forest, land and wildlife resources.

ASRD New Hires Training
The ASRD New Hires Training Program was developed specifically for new employees who have worked approximately two years in SRD.  Program participants start off by attending the New Employee Orientation training session, typically offered at the Forestry Depot (warehouse) in Edmonton.  Operational program delivery staff will typically move on to attend the "Field Staff Orientation Training" offered at the Hinton Training Centre. The "Forestry Division Academy" is the last level of training offered in the New Hires program.  Operational staff attending the Forestry Division Academy are exposed to key knowledge and skills needed to carry out core Forest Management and Forest Protection roles and responsibilities. See more information...
