A platform east of the campground permits excellent viewing of beaver lodges and muskrat push-ups. Mature coniferous forests provide a home for many wood warblers. Songbirds, waterfowl and shorebirds are readily visible from both the platform and the shore trails. By midsummer the ponds in the park are likely to show a continuous green carpet of floating duckweed.

Moose and white-tailed and mule deer are frequently sighted along the extensive park trail system. The Eagle Creek trail is recommended for sightings of bald eagles and both great horned and great gray owls. In June and September, look for migrating warblers, shorebirds and waterfowl.
