Notikewin Provincial Park
Last Review/Updated: May 10, 2002
The mighty Peace River runs by this attractive provincial park bordered by the mature forest of the valley below and the plateau above.
One can observe sandhill cranes and also several species of raptors which make their homes here.

Ungulates include moose and wapiti as well as white-tailed and mule deer. Both black bears and grizzly bears may be encountered, so campers must make sure that food is securely stored.
The
campground is situated in a forest of balsam poplar and white spruce,
often with ostrich fern communities in the understory. Cavity-nesting
bird species, including a variety of woodpeckers, may also be seen
throughout the forest.
Visitors can cross the Notikewin River (good fishing at the mouth for walleye, pike and goldeye) and hike through the southern end of the park where lodgepole and jack pine predominate. The open understory provides a variety of plant species in a spectacular setting along the banks of the Peace.
