Northeast - Lakeland / Boreal
Last Review/Updated: May 10, 2002
Sites in this region range from parkland and farmland in the south, through extensive boreal mixedwood forest and muskeg, to deltaic wetlands and lichen woodlands in the far northeast.
Here, white and black spruce, jack pine, aspen, balsam poplar and white birch dominate the dense tree cover. The many lakes, rivers and streams support great blue herons, ospreys and pelicans, as well as bear and moose and dozens of spawning fish species.
