Incisor Bar Collections

Successful moose hunters were very cooperative in providing incisor bars from harvested moose. Over 16 000 moose incisor bars were received for age analysis since 1993. Table 7 shows the information gathered from these samples expressed as a percentage of bull moose 2.5 years and older.

Since 1993 there was a favourable increase in the proportion of bulls greater than 2.5 years of age in the harvest in MMAs 5 and 6 (see Figure 1). Moose Management Area 7 remained stable and the percentage of bulls greater than 2.5 years of age in the harvest in MMAs 8 and 9 remained high.
